Nora and I came home and found a popsicle to eat in front of the air-conditioner.  She's still at the age where she leaves more on the popsicle than she removes, but I'm glad for it because time with her has already flown by and it will seem like months, not years have passed and I'll be dropping her off at Kindergarten too.

Our walk seemed short when it was downhill and we were fresh from the apartment and Aiden was full of excitement that the culmination of all his dreams was about to be reality.  He's a Kindergartner.  The way back uphill seemed longer, but I was glad for the time to think.  I felt like crying when he found his friend from Primary outside and they walked first into the classroom together without a backward glance; leaving her mother and me blinking in the sun by the outside door.

"Was that it?" we asked each other.

Yep, it was.

The other parents followed their babies into the classroom and I waited outside.  The door closed and locked automatically, but I didn't feel right leaving yet.  I waited five minutes until the other parents were shooed out of the back door of the classroom.  I scooted past and found Aiden at a table playing next to a boy from his pre-school class last year.  I squeezed his shoulder and said goodbye--more for me than for him.  He's not the same boy with separation anxiety anymore... pre-school has served us well.  I don't know which prayer is more fervent, that others will be kind, or that he will.

Last night we celebrated with cake:

it seemed like the right thing to do.

And last week we squeaked in a camping trip before the finality of school set in.

Not on the list of highlights from the trip:
the rain, the bees, and the epic battle each night for sleep.

I was pretty disappointed when I realized that Isaac would miss the cut off for kindergarten by a month but now that school is starting for everyone else I'm relieved I don't have to deal with it for another year. I think I'll be a basket case next year.....it makes me teary eyed just thinking about it this year! Can't believe they grow up so fast!

He is so cute!!!! Kadyn is way excited that Aiden started Kindergarten too. She's been dying to go to school for such a long time and now her dreams have come true as well. I'm sure you'll be getting a call from her shortly wanting to talk to Aiden all about school. Surprisingly though, she didn't go to class quite as easily as Aiden did. It wasn't hard for her, but she did want me to stick around for a little bit before feeling comfortable enough to say good-bye. And I remember that easy walk down the hill and not so fun walk back up the hill. I needed the exercise! Hope Aiden is still enjoying school!!!! Tell him hi and we miss all of you!!!!!
