we took one of them, old fashioned vacations.
the kind where you drive thousands of miles, worry about your car,
compare gas prices in each city (oh my), and point out stupid things to your kids in the hopes of alleviating their boredom.
the kind where you have one bag dedicated just to food for keeping you awake at opportune times
and another dedicated to toys to hopefully keep your kids from screaming at you.

neither worked well.

the kind of vacation where you stay in a fancy hotel that you arrive at around 2am
and then turn around and leave again at 9am.
it was glorious.

legoland was a sweet 72 degrees, sunny, breezy, crowded...
everything a certain 6 year old boy had dreamed.
we drove
 flew
coasted
 floated
 sprayed
 chugged
 zoomed
 gazed
 waited
 walked
 ate
 hydrated
 &
purchased
 our way across the park.

we tried to be patient with aiden as he wandered away from us time and time again to look at something mesmerizing.
we barely noticed when nora's nap time zipped past us, and when we noticed, we didn't even care!
we tried to love every moment so as to outweigh the 12 hours painfully spent in the car,
plus the 12 more that were headed our way all too soon.

behold, the pictures:
