You know that disappointed feeling after the perfect day.  Everything you wanted... happened, and now there's no more anticipation.  That feeling you learn sometime between 4 and 28 after being spoiled on too many birthdays and Christmases.  I'm so glad Aiden's still oblivious to that.

He was so excited the night before his birthday that he didn't get to sleep until 10pm.  From the second he woke up, he was ready to party, and we were happy to oblige.  We headed early to the Dinosaur Park (a feeble attempt to avoid the heat) and instead of pushing Aiden through the park to see everything so we felt like we'd gotten our money's worth, we let Aiden pick where we went and how long we stayed.  He spent more than half of our time there playing and digging in the sand.  Scott and I just relaxed in the shade and watched him play.

After the dino park we dashed home for sand-removal before heading to Stephy's for what Aiden clearly saw as the highlight of the evening:  his construction cake.

And after pizza and cake, presents and playing, we called it a day.  Aiden was just as happy at the end as he'd been at the beginning.  No regrets that it was over, just happy that it happened.  Kids are awesome!  My favorite part of the day was Aiden telling everyone "I love you" instead of "thank you" for his birthday presents.  I could tell he was just so grateful and I guess that seemed like the most appropriate thing to say.  Scott and I are so lucky to have him.
